"So, my fiance decided to try here after hearing good things. I had the tenderloin sandwich with fries as side. The service was good, and the staff were friendly. The food was okay. The fries were the thick, crinkle kind, obviously fried. The tenderloin was also thick, kind, and fried. Indiana is typically famous for large, thin tenderloins, so this took me by surprise. The flavor was okay. The inside was a little mushy. Maybe it could have been cooked slightly longer. The restaurant was nice."

"It was a good diner experience. I got a Rueben Sandwich and it was more of a chopped meat sandwich. Fortunately the pies were spot on and all we could think about is coming back for more pie. The restaurant was clean and inviting, and the service was great. We would go back."

"A Must-Try for Classic American Fare in Decatur For those seeking a taste of genuine, home-style American cooking in Decatur, the West End Restaurant is a standout choice. Our recent dining experience was overwhelmingly positive, leaving us eager to recommend this local gem. The star of the show was undoubtedly the fried fish. Living up to its reputation, the fish was cooked to perfection with a crispy, flavorful coating and tender, flaky flesh. It's clear why this dish is a local favorite. The accompanying sides of onion rings and tater tots were equally impressive - golden brown, perfectly crisp, and not at all greasy. The salad was fresh and provided a nice, crisp counterpoint to the fried items. For families with children, the kids' pizza is a serviceable option. While basic, it hit the mark for its intended audience and served its purpose well. The only slight dissonance in an otherwise stellar meal was the chicken wings. The wings themselves were sizable, but came battered, which was unexpected. There was also a subtle but distinct taste of the restaurant's famous fish, which could be attributed to either the batter recipe or the frying oil. This was by no means a deal-breaker, but something for diners to be aware of. Overall, our visit to the West End Restaurant was a fantastic experience. The quality of their signature dishes and classic sides makes it a highly recommended stop for anyone in the Decatur area looking for delicious, unpretentious American comfort food. "Our waitress was great, she seemed to be working the dining room area by herself (July 12). We had pork tenderloins, always a meal when I am back in Indiana. They were moist and tender. The pickled eggs were great. I had sugar cream pie, which was more of Amish style (this is Adams County), still very good. Really the only issue was the mildew smell upon entry."

"Went there on a Friday evening. Ordered white chicken basket. Waiter came back 10 minutes later said they ran out of white meat chicken. So ordered fish basket. Fish came luke warm. Spent close to 45 minutes before got meal served. Like unable to handle little busy."
